Most general chemicals have multiple uses.

For example, our sodium hypochlorite gets used in applications as diverse as bleaching, disinfection and water treatment, as well as in dentistry during root canal treatments.

Similarly with acetone. Although its largest use is as a solvent (it can dissolve many plastics), it is also used as a cleaning fluid, most famously as a nail polish remover. Acetone is ideal for thinning fibreglass resin, cleaning fibreglass tools and dissolving two-part epoxies and superglue before hardening. It can also be used as a drying agent.
